Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Pailsen Files

Most of the sequels to Armored Trooper VOTOMS are set during or after the TV series. One prequel OVA, Roots of Ambition, chronicles Chirico Cuvie's time with the Red Shoulder Battalion during the Hundred Years War. The 2007 OVA series Pailsen Files picks up from there, following Chirico's path after the official dissolution of the Red Shoulders and the court-martial of Red Shoulder founder Yoran Pailsen. Directed by original VOTOMS creator Ryosuke Takahashi (SPT Layzner, Gasaraki), Pailsen Files features mechanical designs from mecha veteran Kunio Okawara (Gundam) and is the first VOTOMS production to feature 3D computer animaton in battle sequences. The series has been released on DVD in Japan, and a compilation film is currently in the works. Like all other VOTOMS sequels, it isn't available in the U.S.
