02.19.12 - A Conversion Milestone by Chris 12:18 A.M.
I don't usually mention anything about conversions on this page, but this time it's something worth noting. As of now, the entire Gundam mecha section has been converted - which amounts to 222 subsections. Yeah, that's a lot. Some were big and some were small, but in total they make up the bulk of the site. While there is still some work to be done in other sections, there's far less ahead than there is behind, so the end is in sight. Once this work is done, you can expect to see a lot of catch up updates for new content that has been missed in the last two or so years.
02.12.12 - Fresh meat for the MAHQ monster by Chris 10:04 P.M.
Last week I mentioned that some new Anime sections would be coming soon, and some of them are here. First up, Scott returns to review the slice of life sci-fi drama Time of Eve, with reviews for the 6 ONA episodes and compilation movie. Next, Xavier Dumoulin joins the staff with a review for the first movie from the Broken Blade series. You may know Xavier as TheSuspiciousRedLamp on the Mecha Talk forums, or as a co-host of the Decoration Disorder Disconnection podcast. Finally, Will Podlewski (Mecha Talk's prince_of_zeon) also joins the team with reviews for episodes 1-3 of Eureka Seven. I'm happy to welcome these new reviewers to the site and the content they're providing. More new sections are coming eventually, so watch for them.
I promised awhile back there would be a post about MAHQ's plans in 2012, but in light of some recent events, the delay in posting this was beneficial. So I'm going to offer a list of updates broken down by section.
Mecha: I'm sure longtime visitors will notice that sections like Super Robot Wars and Macross have been ignored for at least two years. Rest assured, they haven't been abandoned. This site conversion has been a mammoth undertaking, and I decided that updating things in the old format while also converting pages to the new format would be too messy. It's been a long time since then, and the work on the Gundam mecha section is nearing completion. This is significant because Gundam and its many subsections make up the majority of the site. The remaining sections will be completed quickly, and I can then devote my time to catching up on updates.
Anime: We'll be receiving an infusion of fresh blood as two new reviewers join the site. Pretty soon you can expect to see new sections for Broken Blade, Eureka Seven and Time of Eve. You'll also see some previously announced sections like Rayearth and The Big O come to light.
Print: Pretty soon I'll be updating everything in this section, allowing me to move forward with new updates.
Models: This section hasn't been updated in a long time, but again I intend to start up updates once conversion is complete. I'd also like to expand beyond Gundam. I've put out several calls for this in the past and only received trickling responses. I'd like to have model coverage for series like Macross, Super Robot Wars and even other stuff like Armored Core. If you'd like to submit reviews, please let me know.
Podcasts: If you've been reading my updates on Mecha Talk, Twitter or Facebook, you're probably aware of our recent hosting issues with Mevio. The good news is that we've moved to libsyn as our new host. We're working up update our iTunes feeds so that you as the listener will not be impacted by these changes. Also, I'm happy to announce that we're working on apps for Gundamn! and Chaos Theater that will be available for Android and iOS. This is only in the very early stages, but I'll have more news once things are further along.
Forum:Mecha Talk is due for a visual overhaul and will be getting it soon. The last visual change to Mecha Talk occurred before the redesign of MAHQ, so we'll be adjusting it to match the look of MAHQ.
On a general note, you can expect to see more social network integration across the site. Once the remaining conversions are complete, 2012 is looking to be a big year for us.
Gundam AGE moves into its second generation, as covered in today's review for episode 16.
01.29.12 - The Glory of Not Winning by Chris 8:53 P.M.
Aside from some conversions mentioned on Twitter, today's update is rather light, consisting of a new section for the ongoing Gundam Wing manga adaptation The Glory of Losers.
In today's update, Gundam AGE's first generation ends with my reviews for episodes 13-15.
01.23.12 - The Wings of the AGE by Chris 9:55 A.M.
There are two items in today's update. First up, the Dunbine section is finally complete with Brian's reviews for episodes 1-6 of The Wings of Rean ONA series. Next up, there's a bunch of new profiles and lineart for the Gundam AGE mecha section.
01.16.12 - Brave of the Rising Sun by Chris 11:23 A.M.
As promised last year after the end of the GaoGaiGar reviews, Arshad returns to provide coverage for the second "Brave" series, Brave of the Sun Fighbird. Reviews are up for episodes 1-3, and you can expect more on the way.
The new year is here, so that means it's time for new reviews. In today's update, I catch up on Gundam AGE with reviews for episodes 11-12. It's pretty common that at the beginning of the new year I outline some of the things you can expect to see from MAHQ during the year. I don't have any such announcement ready yet, but it's coming soon.
