Summary

Trowa attacks Heero, and the fight quickly ends when Trowa enters Heero's cockpit with a gun. At the Winner colony, Quatre's father expresses his displeasure about Quatre piloting a Gundam. Citizens begin to protest outside the mansion, and a Leo claiming to work for the Winners shows up and starts shooting at the civilians. Several OZ Tauruses appear, and the Leo pilot jumps out. The Tauruses destroy the mansion and kill Quatre's father and his sister. Elsewhere, the Tallgeese arrives in space, and Lady Une asks Zechs how he can show his face. He claims that he is Ambassador Milliardo Peacecraft of the Sanc Kingdom, and friend to Treize. Lady Une calls Treize, and he says that Milliardo is not Zechs. Zechs attends a meeting with Lady Une and the colony leaders, but they are unable to reach an agreement. Duo and Wufei show up to protest and are arrested. They are thrown in jail with Heero and discuss their next moves. Trowa tells them that an unidentified Gundam has appeared, and he and Heero will be attacking it.

Heero and Trowa launch in the Vayeate and Mercurius. The Wing Gundam Zero destroys all the Tauruses that attack it. As they approach Wing Zero, Quatre fires the twin buster rifle at Trowa. Quatre claims that space has gone crazy, so he will destroy everything. Heero attacks Quatre and vows to kill him. Heero says he doesn't care what happened to Quatre and will fight anyone fights him. He charges at Quatre, and Trowa jumps in the way of Quatre's buster rifles as they fire. Trowa tells Quatre that he's too nice to being doing this, and the Mercurius explodes. Quatre exits Wing Zero and asks Heero to kill him. Heero comes out with a gun, but they are both captured. On Barge, Tubarov tells Lady Une to send mobile dolls to Earth. She says Treize gave no order like that, and he says that Treize has been arrested as a traitor. Lady Une pulls out her gun, and Tubarov shoots her. He is then told that two Gundams are attacking the lunar base.

The Gundam Deathscythe Hell and Altron Gundam destroy OZ mobile suits and escape from the moon. OZ has captured Wing Zero, but no one is able to pilot it. Currently, Trant Clark is trying to discover its secrets. He goes to a colony junkyard and sees his friend Hilde with Duo. Trant goes on that he will be a famous Gundam pilot, but Duo doesn't think so. Romefeller Foundation leader Duke Dermail contacts his granddaughter Dorothy Catalonia and asks what she wants with Gundam pilots. She explains that she wants to see them fight. In the Sanc Kingdom, anti-OZ fighter Sally Po gives Heero something he left behind. A Sanc Kingdom ally is under attack by OZ, and Relena and Noin's plane is caught in the crossfire. Heero appears in the Wing Gundam and saves them. When they land, Relena hugs Heero and tells her she's missed him. Elsewhere, Treize secretly constructs the Gundam Epyon. In space, Zechs uses the Tallgeese to destroy mobile doll carriers heading for Earth. In the Sanc Kingdom, Quatre and Heero join the school. Noin tells them that Gundanium alloy is being secretly shipped to Earth, and that OZ is testing Wing Zero and it's Zero System. In space, Trant is unable to control the system and has gone crazy. He sees Duo's file and goes off to find him. He attacks the Deathscythe Hell and forces Duo to pilot Wing Zero. Duo nearly losses control until Trant takes Wing Zero back and is totally driven insane.

Elsewhere, Trowa shows up at the circus, and Catherine sees that he's lost his memories. Heero goes to Treize's castle to kill him, and Treize gives him the Gundam Epyon to defend the Sanc Kingdom. OZ attacks the Sanc Kingdom, and Relena stands in the way, telling them to stop. Heero shows up with the Gundam Epyon and destroys all the Virgo mobile dolls. Dorothy leaves when Dermail tells her they plan to drop an asteroid on the Sanc Kingdom. Heero flies up to destroy it and sees it is mobile doll carriers in disguise. He goes insane and destroys them. In space, Zechs and Howard have taken Wing Zero so that Zechs can use it. Quatre goes into space to find Trowa, and Trowa decides to come along. He also finds Duo and Wufei, and they all head back for Earth. The ship Peacemillion approaches them, and Wing Zero launches from it. Duo and Wufei go out in their Gundams and see that the pilot of Wing Zero is Zechs. He asks for their help, but they don't trust him. They begin fighting and realize that Zechs has mastered the Zero System. Their shuttle is about to enter the atmosphere, so they quit the battlefield and return to it.

Commentary

This volume covers approximately 20 more episodes of the TV series, and it's even worse than the first one. There are so many plot holes here, because things happen so quickly. This adaptation is basically a bad Cliff's Notes version of the TV series, and it tries to cover way too much in one little book. Also, TOKYOPOP's translation is poorer than the first one. Here you'll find terrible lines such as "Gundam boys, don't let this injustice be!" or "Here 6 giant Gundams banded together!" Another problem with the translation is the grammar. The word Gundam is used for the singular and plural, like deer or moose. Also, Wing Zero is inconsistently called Wing Gundam Zero, Wing Zero, and Gundam Zero. Again, the only plus of this book is the SD comics, which have actually been expanded by ten additional pages. This time I don't think it's enough to save this book.
