The GNX-803T GN-XIV offered significantly higher performance than its predecessors due to the incorporation of new technology from the Innovades and Celestial Being after the Earth Sphere Federation seized the ship Celestial Being, plus technology from the canceled Ahead series. The GN-XIV was based on the GNX-612T/AA Superbia GN-X and was both easy to produce and simple to operate. The GN-XIV could be outfitted with various types of equipment depending on the mission, and its performance on paper was on par or even superior to a Gundam. After the suit’s formal production began, it earned the nickname of “Gundam Type.” Newer versions of GN-X suits were created by upgrading older models through parts swapping. As such, most of the ESF’s GN-XIVs were upgraded GNX-609T GN-XIII units. The GN-XIV upgrade involved more parts swapping than all previous GN-X line upgrades. Thanks to the upgrades, the GN-XIV reported better pilot survivability. The GN-XIV featured a vastly improved operating system and received support from Veda, similar to the Innovades’ GNZ series.

The suit’s long-range booster was adapted from the one previously used by the GNX-704T Ahead. Optional particle tanks mounted on the shoulders contained thrusters, and the particles could be used for weaponry or propulsion. The shoulder thrusters were derived from the Ahead’s backpack thrusters. The GN-XIV was also the first mass produced ESF machine to utilize the Trans-Am System for a temporary increase in performance. The GN-XIV’s armaments included a GN Beam Rifle, also known as the GN Short Rifle. Switching the barrel converted the weapon into the GN Long Rifle, and it was the pilot’s choice as to which version to use. The long rifle had higher output and was meant for anti-ship/fortress use, while the short rifle was easier to use and has a higher firing rate, making it ideal for anti-mobile suit combat. The GN Shield was based on Innovade technology and could generate a GN Field. The shield’s underside also housed a pair of GN Hand Grenades. The GN-XIV could use the GNX-607T/AC GN-XII Sword‘s GN Buster Sword, and the weapon proved effective against the ELS because it could generate a GN Field and prevent direct contact and assimilation. However, units assimilated in 2314 by the ELS could mount GN Bazookas as hands, or featured a GN Beam Rifle integrated into one hand and a GN Beam Saber into the other. After the ELS conflict ended, the ESF produces a variant unit, the GNX-805T/CF GN-XIV Core Fighter Loaded Type.
