Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Brilliantly Shining Heresy

Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Brilliantly Shining Heresy (aka The Defrost) is an OVA series released in Japan in 1994. It is a sequel to the 1983 TV series Armored Trooper VOTOMS. The series is co-directed by Ryosuke Takahashi and Takashi Imanishi, with all the main creative staff returning from the TV series. The story again focuses on Chirico Cuvie, who is awakened after 32 years of cryogenic stasis. Separated from Fyana, he is drawn into a conflict with the powerful Church of Martial. Nearly two decades after its release, Brilliantly Shining Heresy was followed by two OVA sequels. The series has been released on home video in North America by Sentai Filmworks’ Maiden Japan label.
