The Macross 13 (aka Battle 13) was the carrier portion of a New Macross class ship, but it was not attached to a City colony ship. Battle 13 was considered an experimental ship for the next generation of battleship class. Its design was similar to other Battle class carriers, although it was equipped with a missile jamming system created by the Critical Path Corporation. Battle 13 was part of a coup d’etat planned by Wilbur Garland, a U.N. Spacy general and member of the Earth supremacy group Latence. On February 14, 2051, the VF-X Ravens team, formerly under Garland’s command, joined with the rogue Vindirance group to defeat Garland and destroy the rogue Battle 13.
