Gundam 00 Season 2 Ep. 12: Wait for Me in Space

Summary

The Cherudim Gundam destroys an Ahead and is attacked by several GN-XIIIs. The Seravee Gundam also comes under attack, and the Ptolemaios 2 trades fire with the Baikals. Setsuna speeds back to the ship and attacks Bring. Bring opens fire, but Setsuna easily dodges and returns fire. He blasts the Garazzo apart, but Bring manages to flee in his Core Fighter. Tieria fights off more GN-XIIIs, and Patrick attacks Lockon with a beam saber. Lockon blocks with his pistol, but two more GN-XIIIs attack Lockon from behind. Just then, the 00 Raiser arrives and fires on them, and Lockon knocks Patrick away. As Setsuna moves in he hears Revive’s voice saying that particle charging is complete. Setsuna then slices an asteroid apart to stop Revive from firing his GN mega launcher. Revive fires the GN mega launcher, but Setsuna outruns it. Revive then stabs the 00 Raiser in the chest with his beam saber, but the 00 Raiser then turns into particles and vanishes. The 00 Raiser then reappears and slices apart the Gadessa, forcing Revive to escape. Saji then undocks the 0 Raiser, and when Setsuna asks him what he’s doing, Saji answers that he has to go where Louise is. Ribbons is shocked that the 00 Raiser underwent quantization and that the Gundams had a power he wasn’t aware of. Wang asks what’s wrong, but Ribbons slaps her and calls her a greedy little girl. With both the Gadessa and Garazzo destroyed, the A-LAWS forces retreat. Sumeragi tells everyone to remain on guard because they have to destroy Memento Mori. Allelujah calls to report that he has escorted the escape ships to safety and that Linda is ok. Saji tries to get the 0 Raiser to move, but it doesn’t respond. Louise thinks to herself that Saji is with the people who killed her parents. She then recalls that Setsuna is in Celestial Being and was Saji’s neighbor, so she assumes that Saji was always in Celestial Being. Kati thinks to herself that the 00 Gundam’s abilities border on the abnormal and wonders what kind of mobile suit it is.

Sumeragi calls Anew in the infirmary to find out what Ian’s condition is, and Anew reports that he’ll be ok in 10 days. Setsuna finds Saji, who says he heard Louise’s voice on the battlefield. Setsuna wonders why Louise is in A-LAWS, and Saji answers that she obviously hates the Gundams for killing her parents. He blames Setsuna for it, and Setsuna tells him to fight if he wants to get Louise back. Saji asks if he’s supposed to become a murderer, but Setsuna tells him to fight for Louise and himself. Saji then punches Setsuna and says he’s not like them. He leaves, and Lockon walks in and tells Setsuna he’s uncouth with his approach. Lockon asks him if he’s trying to atone for the past, and Setsuna answers that it isn’t for the past, but the future. In his room, Saji looks at the last e-mail that Louise sent him years ago. On the Baikal, Louise watches as Zinin’s locker is cleaned out. Andrei walks in tells her that Zinin received a posthumous promotion. Andrei asks her about the voices he heard during the battle, but she says she doesn’t know what that is. He says he heard her talking to someone and asks if she knows one of the enemy. Louise tells him he’s wrong, but he grabs her by the arm and tells her she doesn’t belong in A-LAWS. She then forcefully removes his arm and leaves. Revive tells Bring that he can’t believe they were both beaten by mere humans, but just then they get a quantum brainwave message from Ribbons. He wants them to capture the 00 Gundam, and he’s sending Hiling and Divine Nova to help. Revive wonders if even Ribbons didn’t know about the 00 Gundam’s capabilities. In the Middle East, the Richiera Kingdom is devastated with a blast from Memento Mori. At the Katharon base, Shirin points out that there was a refugee camp near the Richiera base that housed 1 million people. Marina overhears them and then goes to check on the children. She thinks to herself that the land and people of the Middle East are being erased. Sergei argues with Kim about a gag order on the Middle East attacks, and he says that A-LAWS is committing massacres with Memento Mori. Kim tells him the order comes down directly from the president, and Sergei is being appointed as an inspector. Sumeragi asks Feldt if she was able to get in touch with Wang, but Feldt reports that she hasn’t. Feldt then reports that Memento Mori just fired again, and Sumeragi tells the crew they’ll be attacking Memento Mori as soon as the ship’s exterior is repaired. Saji thinks to himself that he won’t be able to see Louise if he leaves this region of space, so he asks Haro for help. Mileina supervises the repairs on the Seravee Gundam, and Lockon wonders if Klaus and everyone else from Katharon are safe. Marie sees Saji sneaking off in a spacesuit, and he lies to her and says he was asked to do something. Saji gets into the 0 Raiser’s cockpit and thinks to himself that he has to get Louise away from A-LAWS. He wants to return to the past, but he’s reminded of the Katharon massacre and what Tieria told him. He then realizes that he’s about to make the same mistake and wonders what he should do. With repairs completed, Lockon, Tieria and Allelujah activate their Trans-Ams to put the ship in Trans-Am help speed it up. Louise deletes all the pictures of Saji on her cell phone. At the Katharon base, Klaus, Shirin and Ikeda discuss how their space fleet will intercept Memento Mori. In space, the Katharon fleet closes in on the satelite arms, and they’re surprised when Memento Mori’s barrel moves to an outward position and fires on them. As the crew of the Ptolemaios 2 wonder what was being fired at in space, Lockon explains that it was Katharon’s space fleet.

Commentary

The weird naked voice experience from the last episode leads to some conflict between Saji and Setsuna in this episode. Initially, Saji goes back to his whining of blaming Setsuna for ruining his life, and he’s about to foolishly run off to find Louise, but he stops and is reminded of how his thoughtless actions led to lots of deaths previously. So he deserves some credit for reconsidering and not running off, unlike a certain G-Defenser pilot from Zeta Gundam. Louise similarly has a confrontation with Andrei about what happened, but she’s definitely going off the deep end. Now she thinks that Saji was always with Celestial Being and is assuming conspiracies that aren’t there. It’s understandable why she would jump to conclusions, but it will still create problems. It’s surprising to see Ribbons display some anger regarding what happened with the 00 Raiser, and it’s nice to see Wang get slapped and knocked down a peg. The 00 Raiser certainly does have some strange abilities, though it’s not clear if it just created after images like the Gundam F91 and Destiny Gundam, or if it actually broke down into atomic particles and teleported somewhere else. Finally, with Memento Mori firing at both space and Earth, it certainly won’t be easy for the Meisters to destroy it.
