Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin MSD Cucuruz Doan’s Island is a manga series released in Japan from 2016-2019. It is a tie-in to the Mobile Suit Discovery original variation series. Written and illustrated by Junji Ohno, it was serialized in Gundam Ace magazine. The story focuses on the former members of the Y-02 mobile suit development team that was previously led by Cucuruz Doan, a Zeon deserter who appeared in one episode of the 1979 TV series Mobile Suit Gundam. It is not related to the 2022 film Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island, which features the same character. Kodansha USA is releasing the manga in North America.
