New Mobile Report Gundam Wing (aka Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) is a TV series that aired in Japan from 1995-1996. The series was initially directed by Masashi Ikeda, but he was replaced halfway through production by Shinji Takamatsu. It featured mechanical designs by Kunio Okawara and Hajime Katoki, character designs by Shukou Murase and a score by Ko Otani. The series is set in AC (After Colony) 195, a world where space colonies struggle under an oppressive Earth government. Five teenage soldiers, including lead protagonist Heero Yuy, are sent to Earth with powerful Gundams to attack the OZ organization on behalf of the colonies. Less than a year after the conclusion of the TV series, Sunrise released the OVA sequel Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. In 2000, Gundam Wing debuted on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block as the first Gundam series to air in North America. The series was originally released on home video in North America by Bandai Entertainment, but it has since been re-released by Nozomi Entertainment.
