Super Dimension Century Orguss is a TV series that aired in Japan from 1983-1984. Directed by Noboru Ishiguro, it features mechanical designs by Kazutaka Miyatake, character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto and a score by Kentaroh Haneda, all of whom previously worked on Super Dimension Fortress Macross. In the future, two warring factions vie for control of an orbital elevator. The series focuses on Kei Katsuragi, a brash young pilot who accidentally detonates a space-time oscillation bomb that turns the Earth into a patchwork of elements from different universes. As the singularity, it’s now his duty to attempt to repair this fractured world. The series was partially released on home video in North America by U.S. Renditions in the 1990s, but received a full DVD release and broadcast from ImaginAsian Entertainment in 2007. The series has since been re-released by Discotek Media.
