King of Braves GaoGaiGar is the eighth and final Brave TV series and aired exclusively in Japan from 1997-1998. Directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani, the series’ staff includes producer/writer Ryosuke Takahashi, mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, mechanical/character designer Takahiro Kimura and Kouhei Tanaka. The story focuses on young Mamoru Amami and the cyborg Guy Shishioh, who are both part of 3G (Gutsy Geiod Guard), an organization dedicated to defending Earth from the alien Zonder. Betterman, another series directed by Yonetani, is considered a part of the same universe as GaoGaiGar. The series received a proper sequel with the OVA GaoGaiGar Final. The original North American version by Media Blasters is out of print, but the series has been re-released by Discotek Media.
