Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY is a TV series that aired in Japan from 2004-2005. It is the sequel to the preceding TV series, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Mitsuo Fukuda returned as director, along with all the other main staff from the first series. Set in C.E. 73, the world has experienced two years of uneasy peace following the end of the Bloody Valentine War. However, a terrorist incident sparks a new war that involves Shinn Asuka, an ace ZAFT pilot on one side, and the cast of the first series on the other. Following the end of its broadcast run, a TV special titled FINAL PLUS offered an expanded version of the finale. Like Gundam SEED before it, the series was reedited into Special Edition compilation movies. In 2012, Sunrise created an HD remaster of the series that added new animation. The series was originally released on home video in North America by Bandai Entertainment, but it has since been re-released by Nozomi Entertainment. The series was followed by a 2024 movie sequel, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.
