Technical and Historical Notes

The final version of the Musai class light cruiser in the One Year War saw an extensive change in hull design, and coupled with all the combat experienced with the standard Musai class cruiser, produced this final type, of which only a very small number were completed. Still retaining the two high-powered mega particle gun turrets of the late-war Musai, the engines were upgraded to give additional speed. The mobile suit launching and maintenance facilities were improved to accommodate the late-war MS-09RII Rick Dom II and MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai high-performance mobile suits. Out of the small number produced, at least two ships were assigned to the Zeon Special Forces unit based at Granada, the Siegfried and the Valkyrie, which saw combat at Side 6 in late December UC 0079.
