Technical and Historical Notes

Originally created as a heavily-armed long-range support machine, the EMS-VSX3 Totuga is re-purposed for the anti-Crossbone Death Gale Team and is taken in the exact opposite direction. Every other aspect is left intact, but it's given incredible armor that lends it an extreme focus on defense. The "shell" on its back mounts a set of beam shield generators capable of withstanding even battleship-class beam cannons, which destroy standard beam shields with a single hit. Despite its large size, the Totuga is given good speed so it can cover its teammates, who lack their own beam shields. Additionally, its armor has a unique multi-layer design, with each layer containing a store of fast-hardening gas that traps any enemy capable of penetrating it. Because of its bulk, the Totuga can remain unfazed by such attacks, allowing it to easily destroy any enemy trapped within the gas with its hammer hands. However, due to its poor mobility and its lack of ranged weapons, the Totuga is a poor machine when faced in single combat. The sole unit is destroyed near the end of the Jovian War, but is rebuilt three years later as the Bara Totuga, restored to its original purpose in order to help battle the new Jupiter Empire's renewed  attacks on Earth.
