Technical and Historical Notes

The MA-06 Grandeene was an extremely large mobile armor developed by the Space Revolutionary Army during the 7th Space War to serve as a mobile garrison headquarters and field artillery unit during the invasion of Earth. Its primary weapon was an extremely powerful photon particle launcher cannon, capable of delivering devastating damage to targets at extremely long range. For closer defense, the Grandeene was also armed with four large-caliber anti-aircraft gun turrets. Although it had four legs for walking, it could only travel like this at extremely slow speeds. Instead, it was equipped with hovering systems for rapid transport over rough terrain.

It is unknown exactly how many Grandeenes were built, but at least one unit on Earth survived the cataclysmic end of the 7th Space War. By A.W. 0015, it had fallen into the possession of Von Alternative, chief of a Newtype research laboratory in North America. Alternative had offered a contract to NRX-0013 Gundam Virsago pilot Shagia Frost to locate and kidnap the Newtype girl Tiffa Adil, and bring the girl to Alternative for study at the Newtype lab. After Shagia and his younger brother Olba had delivered the "merchandise", they left to fight nearby Vulture forces. Alternative wished to sever his ties to the Frost brothers, and attempted to use his Grandeene mobile armor to destroy them (as well as the Vultures they had kidnapped Tiffa from) with its particle cannon. However, Vulture pilot Garrod Ran, aided via telepathic link from Tiffa through ex-Newtype Jamil Neate, was able to target and destroy the Grandeene with the GX-9900 Gundam X's satellite cannon.
