Technical and Historical Notes

Based on the late production model of the GNX-603T GN-X, the GNX-604T Advanced GN-X was a custom machine assigned mainly to the UN's ace pilots. Its production number made up less than three percent of the GN-X's total production number. However, as the suit was equipped with a system capable of drawing out the pilot's traits to the limit, the number of missions it completed was astonishing. The suit could be adjusted internally or externally to meet its pilot's characteristics, such as the unit piloted by Amy Zimbalist, which had all vernier limiters removed. The data collected from the Advanced GN-X was later used in the development of the GNX-607T GN-XII, and its Proto GN Lance was later inherited by the GNX-609T GN-XIII without any major changes. The suit's propulsion power was enhanced. As the GN verniers were enlarged, the ability to control the suit using GN particles was also improved. On the other hand, this placed a heavier burden on the pilot and made controlling the suit difficult. A commander-use compound antenna was installed in the head, which both improved the suit's search and communications abilities, and allowed the control of suits under the pilot's command. This system showed how cautious the UN was over powerful weapons such as GN Drive-equipped suits.

The suit's armaments included the Advanced GN Beam Rifle, a customized version of the GN-X's beam rifle. The rifle shared the same base components as the GN-X's beam rifle, but the performance balance amongst accuracy, rate of fire and attack power could be adjusted by the pilot in real time during combat. As the Advanced GN-X did not have the hip storage rack for the beam saber (due to the new hip-mounted vernier), the beam saber was now mounted on the rifle. The shoulder-mounted GN Defense Rod was a larger version of the one on the GN-X's shield. The shoulder rack could also be mounted with other equipment such as GN Launcher based on the pilot's preference or the mission requirement. It was common to have both shoulders equipped with GN Defense Rods. The Proto GN Lance was a trial weapon usable in both close and ranged combat. Parts of the GN-X's beam rifle were used in the weapon. Despite being older than the GN-XIII, the Advanced GN-X actually scored higher during a performance test. The Advanced GN-X ould be upgraded into GN-XIII or GNX-803T GN-XIV via parts swapping.
