Technical and Historical Notes

The RX-81LA G-Line Light Armor was one of the many variations of the RX-81 G-Line and was based on the concept of the RGM-79L Light Armor. The emphasis for the RX-81LA was largely on light weight and powerful thrusters in order to excel in hit-and-run tactics. In order to reduce the suit's weight, its armor was made very thin. The backpack was also equipped with a stabilizer unit for high mobility movement. The RX-81LA's base armaments included vulcan guns, beam sabers and a heavy rifle. It could optionally be equipped with a range of long-distance armaments, including Gatling smashers, missile launchers and an assault cannon. In UC 0081, Phantom Sweep team pilot Hugues Courand used the RX-81LA during the hunt for the Zeon remnant group known as the Invisible Knights.
