Technical and Historical Notes

The YMS-07A Prototype Gouf was a ground combat mobile suit developed by Zeonic Company alongside the MS-06J Zaku II. The Prototype Gouf was designed to have superior mobility and more heavy armor than the Zaku II. The YMS-07A’s cockpit hatch and chest featured a different design than later units. Zeonic engineers tested the mobility and armaments of the Prototype Gouf by creating two additional test units, the YMS-07A-0 (mobility) and YMS-07B-0 (tactical). In its prototype form, the YMS-07A carried mostly the same armaments as the Zaku II, including a Zaku machine gun and heat hawk. The heat hawk was stored in a new shield designed exclusively for the Gouf. The early production model MS-07A still lacked the new internal weaponry that was later implemented in the second production model MS-07B.
