Technical and Historical Notes

The TMF/A-802 BuCUE served as one of ZAFT's ground assault models during the Bloody Valentine War, and several variants of it were produced. One was the TMF/A-802 P-Mod.W BuCUE Waltfeld Custom Type. This particular variant was produced solely for North African commander "Desert Tiger" Andrew Waltfeld. Waltfeld's custom BuCUE was most easily identified by the orange tiger motif similar to his tiger-colored pilot suit. Because ZAFT lacked beam saber technology at the time, Waltfeld's custom unit was equipped with two long fangs, and it also had claws mounted on the feet. Waltfeld's custom BuCUE also served as the prototype for his later TMF/A-803 LaGOWE, which also featured claws and a similar color scheme. The custom BuCUE functioned as Waltfeld's personal unit until the LaGOWE was completed and rolled out onto the battlefield. After Waltfeld was critically injured in a battle with Kira Yamato's GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, his custom BuCUE was left behind and eventually fell into the hands of Junk Guild member Kisato Yamabuki.
